In 1851, Charles-Camille Heidsieck (nephew of Piper-Heidsieck's owner), a charismatic and visionary entrepreneur, founded Champagne Charles Heidsieck at the young age of 29. Born into a prestigious family with deep roots in the world of champagne, Charles became known as "Champagne Charlie" due to his passion for promoting his brand across the United States. Throughout its storied history, the house has been renowned for its innovative spirit and commitment to excellence, with Charles being one of the first champagne producers to successfully export its Sparkling Wine.
Only 60 crus from Champagne are blended to create Charles Heidsieck Champagnes, but the three stylistic pillars that give the Brut Réserve its distinct character are Grand Cru Chardonnay from Oger in the Côte des Blancs, Grand Cru Pinot Noir from Ambonnay in the Montagne de Reims, and the distinct Pinot Meunier from Verneuil in the Vallée de Marne. The house owns around 60 hectares of sustainably managed vineyards that bear the High Environmental Value label. The wines are aged for 3 to 15 years (far above the Champagne average and requirement) in ancient chalk cellars, providing an ideal environment for maturation and expression. Charles Heidsieck's Cellar Masters, who have been recognized as "Sparkling Winemaker of the Year" twelve times in only eighteen years, skillfully blend Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay from separate vats to create perfect harmony in each bottle.
Charles Heidsieck is one of the most awarded champagnes globally, with its Brut Reserve winning over 20 medals since 2012. Charles Heidsieck Champagne is distinguished by the high proportion of reserve wines in the Brut Reserve: 40% of the blend is reserve wines averaging 10 years old, giving the wine uncommon depth and complexity. In addition to the non-vintage Brut Réserve and Rosé Réserve, the winery produces a generous and precise Vintage Brut, Vintage Rosé and the prestige cuvée Blanc des Millenaires. With their elegant flavors and timeless charm, these champagnes continue to captivate connoisseurs worldwide.
